Crib and Bassinet

I wanted to share the crib and bassinet we got on sale at Downeast Home store. My cousin Tiersha alerted me that Downeast Home had the Pottery Barn bassinet I wanted so Dane and I went to go look at it. It was the exact one we wanted and we also found the exact Pottery Barn crib we wanted too! I can’t wait to start setting up the nursery for our little man cub (Dane’s nickname for him).

These photos are from the Pottery Barn Kids website. We still have't bought our bedding yet but I love both of these purchases!

I am working on a stroller comparison for different brands. I already know what stroller I am getting but I hope to post it to my blog soon!

22 week post

Size of Baby: Papaya
Lifestyle: I still love being pregnant! It is weird to look down and see a bump. Our little boy is very active already. He moves a lot but I still love feeling him every time. It is weird to see my stomach move! My clothes still fit but I am finding it hard to figure out what size clothes to buy. I haven’t bought any maternity clothes yet but I’m sure I will soon.  My pillows are taking over the bed. Poor Dane has to snuggle with my pillow instead of me.

The baby's heartbeat is now at 132. I am working on a post about some of the stuff we have bought for him so far!

It's A Boy!!

Four days before our appointment Dane felt the baby kick for the first time!

We went to out ultrasound so ready to find out what we were having. We didn’t want to find out in the room so we brought an envelope that the ultrasound technician could put a picture and a sticky note in so we could have our own gender reveal. We got to see the baby and everything looked healthy. We left with our envelope and of course we couldn’t wait any longer. We took the picture to The Sweet Tooth Fairy and had them put either a pink or blue cupcake in a box depending on what the sticky note said. After we paid for the cupcake we decided we had to open it in the car. We opened it and filmed our reaction.

It’s a boy!! We were so surprised and so excited!! We both thought it was a girl but we are so excited that our first is a boy. I have no idea what to do with a boy but Dane does and I’m sure I will learn quickly. I just started thinking about all of the fun things I could do with a little boy. We can't wait to meet him.

We were leaving for Virginia for Thanksgiving break the next day so we wanted to wait to tell my family in person. Melissa wasn’t going to be in Virginia for another four days so we wanted to tell her before we left. We got some blue silly string and told her we needed to come over for a few minutes. When she opened the door we attacked her with the silly string. She figured out we were having a boy and was so excited.

We thought how we would tell my family and finally decided to tell the whole family to come pick us up from the airport. When they picked us up we were both wearing blue! My family was so excited! (I didn’t get a picture of us in all blue)

For Facebook we did a smaller version of the balloons in the box. We also tied a blue ribbon on our family dog Maggie but that was just for us!

We are both so excited to have boy. I have already done some shopping and found him some cute clothes. I am glad I know it’s a boy now so I don’t have keep calling our baby an “it”.

Here are some ultrasound pictures:

His cute little feet! (from the bottom)
His face! He was looking right at us. He kind of looks like an alien

Baby Bump Pictures

I took bump pictures for every week I had an appointment. I took a picture at 9 weeks, 12 weeks, 16 weeks and then one at 19.5 weeks when my bump was a little more visible.

9 weeks:
Appointment: We had our first appointment at 8 weeks. It was so hard to wait this long to confirm we were pregnant. At our appointment we got to see our baby. It looked liked a little circle with a little flickering or light. The doctor told us that was the baby’s heart. It was so cool!
Size of Baby: Green olive
Lifestyle: I love being pregnant! I have been a little nauseous but nothing unbearable. I am not use to eating so often. I need to eat about every 2-3 hours. If I don’t I start to feel sick but then once I eat I am totally fine. It is also hard to wake up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. Luckily I fall right back asleep.

12 weeks:
Appointment: We got to hear the baby’s heartbeat today. It was such a cool thing to hear and it was so fast. Our baby’s heartbeat was 165. It is interesting how fast these appointments are but I guess that is a good thing because that means that everything looks good with the baby.
Size of Baby: Plum
Lifestyle: Get to announce to everyone we are pregnant! Yay!

16 weeks:
Appointment: We got to hear the heartbeat again and we asked for an ultrasound. They weren’t planning on doing one for us because they were planning on doing one for our next appointment, which would be 20 weeks, but they gladly gave us one. We hadn’t seen our baby since our 8-week appointment and I was dying to see it. It was such an amazing thing to see our baby. The baby was moving like crazy although I still couldn’t feel it move yet. We didn’t want to know the gender yet because we had heard stories about people finding out early and sometimes it wasn’t always right so we decided to wait until our 20-week appointment. It was the longest 4 weeks of my life. I am so glad we got to see our baby.
Size of baby: Avocado
Lifestyle: I have discovered that my prenatal vitamins are what’s causing me to throw up. I am looking for another kind to take so I can stop throwing up. Waiting to find out the gender at our 20-week appointment is torcher. I have to sleep with two pillows in bed. One in between my legs and one behind my back I need to get a body pillow.

At 18 weeks I felt the baby move for first time! It was like a flipping sensation and probably one of the coolest things I have felt.

My cravings have pretty much been coleslaw and Olive Garden salad. Occasionally I crave macaroni and cheese and pizza!

19.5weeks:
I haven’t had my appointment yet but I am finally starting to show!
Lifestyle: My lower back is starting to hurt when I sit for too long. Good thing Dane is willing to give me massages! I can't zip up my pants anymore so I have started wearing a belly band! No maternity clothes yet.

Pregnancy Announcements

Finding a clever way to announce our pregnancy to my cousins and the world (aka Facebook) was very important to us. We thought about ideas for a long time and finally thought of two ideas that I absolutely love!

We were having a cousin back to school party and we decided that was the perfect time to tell the cousins we were pregnant. I came up with the idea to have them crack open eggs and they would have a note inside that read "We're Pregnant!" I had seen this idea on Etsy but they were a little pricey so I decided to make them myself. Everyone got one on their plates and we had them crack them before dinner.

I loved the way they turned out!

Our idea for Facebook we actually thought of before we were even pregnant. We were trying to come up with something new and different and one night at dinner we were just throwing out ideas and came up with the Goldilocks and the 3 Bears idea.
We were both very happy with the ideas we came up with. Now we just need to figure out how to announce the gender of our baby.

WE'RE PREGNANT!! BABY COMING APRIL 2014

I'm pregnant!! We were so excited when we found out. I am 13 weeks right now and on Monday October 7th I will be 14 weeks! Our baby is due April 8th 2014.

Dane and I had wanted to get pregnant for a while, we were just waiting for the right time. Our original plan was to start trying in September because I would be in my last semester and we thought it would be a great time. At the end of June we started thinking about getting pregnant sooner. I would be closer to the end of my first trimester and if I got sick this would be very nice.

We decided to try in July. For some reason I have always had the fear that I wouldn't be able to get pregnant. Well I think I can put to rest all of my fears about being infertile because we got pregnant in the first week! And even before we took a test, somehow I knew I was pregnant. I can't really say how I knew it was just a feeling.

Waiting to take a pregnancy test was so hard. Especially because I was at my family reunion and I just wanted to share the fact that I might be pregnant with everyone. I was late, but we waited another week just to be sure. I took a pregnancy test on my birthday at my house in Virginia and I filmed mine and Dane's response to looking at the test. I wanted to surprise Dane in a creative way saying I was pregnant but I also wanted to record my reaction to the news so I just decided we would look together.
Best birthday present ever!

We couldn't wait to tell my parents and we thought all day how we would do it. After several ideas we decided we would tell them at dinner with these wax straws they give to kids that Courtney usually gets. Dane would challenge Courtney to a design contest and Dane would write out “We’re Pregnant!”

So we get to dinner and Courtney doesn’t get the wax straws! So Dane has to mention to Courtney that he wanted to play with them. He challenged her and she accepted. Dane was so excited to spell everything out that we did it so quickly and Courtney was making this awesome elaborate picture. Dane finished so fast that by the time we made the reveal it was kinda hard to read! But my mom figured it out right away and all my sisters got so excited. Naturally I started crying.

The Cleaner Version and Courtney's Creation
Telling Dane’s parents was even trickier. They are serving as mission presidents in the Philippines. Dane was back at his job in Idaho and I was still in Virginia. We tried to group skype but that wasn’t working. So Dane called me on Facetime while he skyped with his parents. He told me to show them what I got for my birthday. I held up the baby clothes but it was so hard for them to see that they couldn’t really tell what was going on. Finally Dane gave them a hint and said “Think Smaller.” The light went off in Dane’s Mom’s head and she got very excited. I cried again! But Dane’s Mom was crying shortly after so at least I wasn’t the only one!

I have had a pretty smooth pregnancy so far. I have had a little morning sickness at night but it comes and goes so fast and then I feel great again. The hardest thing to get use to is eating so much! I have to eat every two hours pretty much and it's so hard to keep up with that. If I forget to eat I get a little stomach sick but as soon as I eat I am fine! I do crave specific foods but it's nothing out of the ordinary. I crave dishes like Olive Garden Salad or pork burritos from Cafe Rio and of course Chick-fil-a.  I am still in my normal clothes but some things are starting to feel a little tight.

Right now I am 15 weeks! I am starting to see a little tiny bump and it is both exciting and weird to see! You can’t really notice it right now with in my street clothes but I will post a picture of my bump within a week or two.
