Adler is 6 months!!

Adler is 1/2 a year old! It’s been so enjoyable to see his personality develop. He’s so curious about the world around him and everyday he makes us laugh and shows us something new. I am adding the month and weeks things happened for my own record. Here are his most recent milestones:

-The first big thing is that Adler’s spitting up has decreased a ton!! We contribute this to his sitting up and solid foods. He still spits up sometimes but it’s not nearly as much and not as often. This makes me so happy but of course because I wrote this he is going to spit up a ton. Now that he is keeping more food down I think we are feeding him too many ounces in his bottles- he hardly finishes them anymore. His acid reflux or whatever it was is also gone! These both happened right around 6 month!
He has also been gaining weight!!

-We had his 6 month appointment and he had to get more shots :(. He weighs 15 lbs and 13 oz which is in the 13th percentile. He is 28 inches tall which is in the 89th percentile.

-The 2nd biggest thing is that Adler is sitting all on his own! He started doing this at 5 1/2 months while we were in Utah visiting my cousins. He still occasionally topples over but it’s usually because he was trying to get a toy.

-The 3rd biggest thing is that he can army crawl every where! He’s constantly after our computers, phones and Halloween decorations. He was sort of doing it at 5 months and 1 week but he really got the hang of it at 5 months and 3 weeks. Sometimes he will get up on his hands and knees and rock back and forth. I wonder if he will start crawling soon. I am sort of looking forward to this and not at the same time. He is so curious that when he can crawl I know he will be non-stop and want to get down every where!

-We introduced him to his first solids with some sweet potatoes around 5 months and 2 weeks.  After getting a lot of advice from people we decided to skip rice cereal/oatmeal and go straight to food. He didn’t really have a reaction, he seemed mostly interested in the spoon. He will eat most of his food and is getting better at swallowing his food.

-I am also making all my own baby food which is a lot of fun right now but we will see how long it lasts!

-He can hold his own bottle which makes my life easier! He started doing this at 5 months and 1 week and has gotten better and better. Sometimes he still drips it all over his face.

-At 5 1/2 months he started sucking his thumb longer. It is the cutest thing. I haven’t gotten a picture of it though because every time I pull out my phone to take a picture he gets distracted and just wants to eat my phone.

-He is still very curious and wants to eat everything.

-We play peek-a-boo a lot and he has started pulling off my hand from my eyes when I say “where’s mommy?” It’s so cute and I love that he is more interactive with his playing.

- At 6 months and 1 week he has started spitting and making noises with his mouth. He sticks his little tough out when he spits and it is the cutest thing ever! I probably will hate that he does this later on but right now it’s adorable. He is also talking, laughing and smiling a ton still.

We’re so excited for how much he has learned to do, but at the same time we want him to slow down! It will be all to soon that he is walking and talking and getting way too old. We’re trying to savor every day and moment.

Adler is 5 Months!

I am a little late with this post but Adler is 5 months! I can’t believe it! I am trying to soak up every moment I possibly can.

Adler had his fourth month appointment a little late because we were traveling so it was a week before he turned 5 months. He got his second round of shots and he weights 13lbs and 12 ounces and he is 26 1/4 inches tall.

Adler rolls both ways! He started doing this about 4 weeks ago. I am not sure if he likes rolling I think he would much rather crawl. He is very anxious to sit on his own and crawl. He seems to be close to sitting on his own but he basically just wants to eat everything so practice sitting only lasts until he can find something to put in his mouth.

We wanted to start food with him last week but I wasn’t feeling the greatest so hopefully this next week we will start food. I am planning on making my own baby food and I am actually really excited about it. I have received the advice to start with veggies because if they get the sweet taste of fruit first sometimes it’s hard for kids to switch to veggies. We also are still debating weather or not to use rice cereal. I will totally take pictures/video of his first taste of food and post about it.

He’s been teething and drooling for months now, so we keep looking for teeth. We feel like it could be any day now, especially since he really wants to chew on everything.

He loves to sleep on his side. Most of the time when we put him in his crib he instantly rolls onto his side to sleep. It is very cute. I think he finds comfort with things touching his cheek. He also rotates all over his bed. Sometimes we go to check on him and he is sideways or his head is where his feet use to be. It’s very funny.

sorry it's a dark picture
He will hold his burp cloth near his face while he falls asleep...so cute

He has figured out how to put his pacifier in his mouth. Sometimes it takes a while to get it the right direction but he can do it! He also recognizes his bottle and just stares at it while we make it. He can hold his bottle he just can’t really tilt it up yet but hopefully he will learn soon. That will make life so much easier!

He likes to snuggle when he is tired and this makes me so happy! I hope he is snuggly when he gets older.

He actually responds and smiles/laughs at peek a boo! A few months ago I got no reaction what so ever so I am glad he is actually starting to like it! He still laughs and smiles at the most random things and it makes me so happy.

Probably one of the funniest things he does is say “hi”. It is a very clear “hi” but I know he has no idea he is saying it. When he was just starting to make noises I would also say “hi” in an airy voice and that would get him to start talking so that is where I think he picked it up. But like I said he has no idea what he is saying. It was really funny when we sat down on a airplane to Virginia and the man next to us said “hi little buddy” and he totally clearly said “hi” back. It caught the guy off guard and he was like “You can’t talk yet!” I can’t wait until he actually knows what he is saying.

Here are some cute pictures of my growing boy I can’t believe at the end of this month he will be half a year old!!

If you tickle his lower back while he is on his tummy he brings his little legs up under him

Adler’s 4 months old!

Our little boy keeps getting bigger and bigger! He is experiencing a lot more firsts and it’s so fun to experience them with him. His next appointment isn’t for 2 weeks because we are traveling and couldn’t fit it in until then so I might include his stats in his 5 month post.

Here is what’s new with Adler:

-We did take him in to get weighed to see if he was gaining good weight and see if he has acid reflux. He weighed 12 lb. 13 oz. He is now in the 9th percentile for weight but they aren’t concerned about that. They also told us that he is actually in the 80th percentile for height and that they must have measured wrong at his last appointment.

-The biggest thing is that he is rolling over. I don’t know if I can actually claim that he is rolling yet because he will do it a ton one day and then won’t do it again for a day or two. He first did it 3 weeks ago and he rolled from his back to his tummy. Since then he has rolled from his tummy to back and back to tummy. He isn’t consistent yet but I feel like that will happen very soon.
*Since writing this post every time we put Adler on his back he rolls to his tummy! He is going to be a roller soon!

-Anyone that has met Adler knows he spits up a ton! He will spit up anywhere from 2 to 6 times after each feeding. This gets a little exhausting to deal with and I have read that it peeks at 4 months and usually goes away when he can eat food and sit up. Let’s hope that is our case. We have taken him to the doctor about acid reflux but he doesn’t cry when he spits up so I don’t think he has it. Any tips on how to deal with spitting up would be greatly appreciated.

-Adler loves to look at everything! It is hard to feed him in new places because he gets distracted and wants to look around. He is still very curious.

-Adler also loves story time. He loves to look at all the pictures.

-He has made the move from our room to his crib at night. Dane likes it because he gets a better nights sleep (he is a very light sleeper and wakes up to any move Adler makes) I am still trying to get use to it and trying to not freak myself out.

-He talks like crazy still and his laugh is still the cutest thing. Besides being tickled the same things don’t make him laugh which keeps us acting silly to get cute laughs out of him.

-He now sits in his Bumbo but at first he seemed a little unsure. He held on to the thing in the middle and wouldn’t let go. It was very cute.

-He took his first trip that was not to Virginia or Utah. We went on a family reunion to Chicago. There he went on his first train ride, first baseball game and got his first baseball hat which is still a little big. He also met more of him extended family and hung out with my cousin Jessica’s little girl, Janie, who is exactly a month younger than him.

I love this picture!

and this one!

He was asleep in his stroller

-Everything goes in his mouth no matter what it is and he is really grabbing and playing with his toys. He also has found his feet! The only time he doesn’t put his hands in his mouth is when he’s falling asleep in our arms. Then, he always wants his hands on OUR mouths. I guess there is something he finds soothing about it.

-He also had his first trip to the pool! We went to an indoor play are in Orem because I was nervous to take him out in the sun before he was old enough to wear sunblock (yes, I’m a first time mom). I think he really liked it. Dane took him under a little trickle waterfall and he didn’t cry! He also loves splashing in the bath and recently in rain puddles.

These pictures turned out so cute!

Also as of August 3rd it has been a year since we found out I was pregnant! I love that we found out on my birthday and unfortunately for Dane that was the best birthday present I ever got!

A lot of my recent pictures of him have already been used in recent posts but here are a few that you haven't seen.

Mommy and son matching shoes.

Recently he has loved putting his hands on our faces/mouths. He does it a lot when he is trying to go to sleep.

We love watching Adler grow and I am still so happy and amazed that this is MY little boy. I can’t wait until he can say mommy. He has made me happier than I ever thought I would be with kids and I love him so much. I also love watching Dane interact and play with Adler. I found this quote that I love it says “ I never knew how much I loved your daddy until I saw how much he loved you”. I love my little family and I look forward to every month with Adler.
