Weekend with Dallin and Adler’s First trip to the Zoo:

Dane’s youngest brother Dallin decided to come and visit us in Idaho Falls this weekend. He got in Friday night and we decided to just hang out at home and watch a movie. The next morning Dane and Dallin took the RZR (which Dane has named “Hobbes”) out while Adler and I hung out at home. I was wondering where they were after some time went by and I got a call form Dane that Hobbes got a pretty bad flat tire!

They hurried at got the wheel over to the dealer so we could still make our lunch plans to one of our all time favorite places to eat here called Snakebite. If we leave Idaho Falls I will certainly miss this place.
They never smile for my pictures

After lunch we headed to the Zoo. I was excited to find out that Idaho Falls had a Zoo because it gave me something to look forward to doing with Adler. We figured that this weekend would be a great weekend to go with Dallin in town and incredible weather. For being relatively small it is a very good Zoo. They didn't have a ton of animals but they had a good variety and they had a little playground and petting zoo. I am not a huge fan of Zoos anymore since going to Africa. I mostly feel bad for the animals but it was fun to take Adler and show him everything. We saw lions and bears and lots of birds and monkeys and even a red panda! I am excited when he can start making animal noises back at me.

The real tiger wouldn't look at us so we took a picture with the fake one

The lions were big!

Adler didn't really care about the animals maybe when he is older

This monkey was just chillin next to Dallin

Cute baby flamingo

After the Zoo Adler needed a nap so we went back home and the boys played all sorts of video games that Dane hadn’t played in ages. I’m glad when Dane hangs out with his brothers because then he has someone to play video games with. That night we went out to dinner and then watched another movie.
Dane was playing the game with his feet while feeding Adler...he is creative!

Dallin left this morning and even though it was a short trip I love having family visit. I need to explore Idaho Falls more with Adler so when other people come to visit we will have lots of fun things to do.

Weekend Trip to Utah Including a Trip to the Urgent Care

This last weekend we decided to take a trip up to Utah to visit some friends and of course do some shopping! Our cousins Casey and Sarah just bought a house so we were excited to stay with them and check out their new place. It is very nice and very spacious.

Adler's car selfie--too bad he was asleep

Taking a breaking to feed Adler and teach him to drive!

I LOVE his big eyes!

We got in Friday night and we stopped for dinner at Happy Sumo. I really miss this place.

Adler and Dane matched.

Saturday we went to the new Orem rec center to try out their new indoor water play area with Casey, Sarah, Emme and Scarlett  but when we got there it was packed and the next available time to enter was 5pm. We decided to just go to the Provo rec center and we had a great time. Dane's brother Dallin joined us which was nice because the boys could go play while the girls hung out. I think Adler enjoyed the pool although his swimsuit kept falling off his body. Dane took his under a small drizzle of water and he didn't cry, so I think he will like water when he is older.

The pool put him to sleep! I love it when he hugs his burp cloth or his blanket and look at those lashes!

After the pool we had to run some errands like we always do every time we visit Utah. Adler always needs new clothes and I have to say GAP has the cutest boy clothes ever! We also stopped at Costco to get some pjs for Adler and I have been wanting to try Costco wipes for a while. I'm also a big fan that the Nordstroms Anniversary sale falls before my birthday. After all of our errands we went to go eat dinner at Malawi's in the Riverwoods.

HERE IS WHERE IT GETS INTERESTING...
I had been craving their steak salad and I couldn't wait to eat it. We ordered, sat down and I took a huge bite of the salad expecting the tangy taste of the balsamic dressing but instead I got a different sweet taste. I was a little confused and just thought they must have changed their recipe. A few bites in my mouth started to feel tingly and like it was swelling so I stopped eating the salad and switch with Dane and finished his pizza thinking nothing of it. After dinner we walked around Riverwoods. About 20 minutes after dinner I started to feel sick to my stomach and my eyes started to water like crazy. The back of my throat started to swell a little and it was getting a little hard to breathe. It felt like I was having asthma attack. Dane asked if I wanted to go to the Urgent Care and I said yes. When we got there the lady asked me what was wrong and when I started to tell her my voice was almost gone. This was a strange side effect and I wasn't sure what was happening to me.

While we were waiting Dane called Malawi's and asked what ingredients were on the salad and in the dressing. They were telling him and Dane asked if they had changed the dressing. They said no and they said they probably accidentally put the Thai dressing on my salad instead which had peanut butter in it. I was freaking out I have never actually eaten peanuts or peanut butter I have only eaten peanut oil and the reaction I have to that is very different and goes away on it's own. I didn't know how serious it was but I was glad I didn't eat the whole salad.

After meeting with the doctor he told me that my throat wasn't closing up and he prescribed me 3 medicines to take over 10 days. I felt a lot better the next day, but I was very sad, because I won't be able to breastfeed Adler while I am on the medication. Plus, I have heard that if you take steroids it can dry up your milk supply (I don't know if that is true).

After that eventful night the next morning we packed up and left for Idaho. It was a fun weekend and certainly not a boring one. Hopefully our next trip to Utah won't include a Urgent care trip!

(I just realized that there are hardly any pictures of Adler and Dane but Dane was there haha)

Red, White and Blue- 4th of July 2014

This was Adler's first 4th of July and I think he enjoyed it (or at least we enjoyed it)! My mom, sisters and I picked out his outfit when I was at home in Virginia. Unfortunately it was too big. As soon as we stood him up his shorts slipped down.

He will hold toys but only when we put them in his hands hah

After we changed him into something that fit we ate lunch and then went to a park. I had wanted a family picture for a while and I thought the 4th was a perfect day to take one because our outfits were already coordinated.

I LOVE how this picture turned out!

Adler with his Daddy

I love this picture too

This picture was risky considering Adler is a spitter...luckily no spit up

He likes to eat everything! Even my sleeves.

After the park we went home for Adler's nap and then we had dinner just the two of us. After dinner we met up with some friends to go to the Idaho Falls Firework show. I swear the entire town was there. I heard that people from all around come to see this show and it was a great firework show.

We brought his pjs which was good because as soon as the fireworks started he fell asleep (I was wondering if he would be scared of fireworks and he wasn't).

It was a good 4th of July and I am excited for next year when Adler will be a little older and actually participate.

Adler is 3 Months Old!

Our little boy is growing up so fast! I have been looking back at all of the pictures of him and I can’t believe how big (and long) he has gotten! Despite the fast changes, it’s been incredible to see him develop his own little personality and experiencing even more firsts with him.

Here is what’s new with Adler:

-He laughed for the first time a week ago. He was doing half laughs before but this was his first full on laugh.

-He laughed because he is ticklish under his arms, his tummy and his neck! So, this is what we now do in our spare time.

-He loves to gnaw on his hands and he will gum our fingers anytime we put them near his mouth. I don’t know if this means he will start getting teeth soon but we got some teething toys just in case.

-When he has tummy time he kicks his little feet and moves himself forward. He also likes to arch his back when we change his diaper dodging the fresh new one. I have learned to change a diaper quickly!

-He is so curious. He surveys everything around him and sometimes he won’t take a nap if too much is going on around him.

-Once he’s done looking around he focuses on stuff in front of him and has started to try and grab some toys.

-At 2 1/2 months old I started to realize that he can’t sleep wherever and I have to sleep him in his crib or bassinet so he will stay asleep.

-He is getting too big for his bassinet :(
one week (picture on the left)   3 months (picture on the right)

-He started sleeping through the night since he was two months and 1 week old and we are loving the spoils of a full night’s rest.

-He took his first plane ride home to Virginia and we also took our first solo flight back from Virginia. We went home for my cousins wedding and then decided to stay for a week after to spend time with my family. He did really well and only cried a little but as soon as he started eating he was fine!

-He loves hanging out with his aunts, grandma and grandpa. He loves being held but he also like to be laid down and kick his little legs.

his first pair of converses!

-He met his first dog (our family dog) and he didn’t seem phased by her. We may need a dog!

-His hair is getting lighter. Dane and I were both blonde when we were little so we won’t be surprised if this is the case. But we can’t seem to figure out what color his eyes are yet. Sometimes they look brown and sometimes they look blue/green. I’m sure he will have brown eyes because since I have brown eyes he has a 50% chance of being like me.

-As for me, I am strictly pumping. Keeping up my milk supply is hard but I am determined to do it for as long as I can.

Now the best part…pictures!
