Rahlf Stories: December 2016

Ettley is 6 months:

Ettley is 1/2 a year old!! Where did my little baby go?! She is so happy and squirmy and we love every second with her. Here is what Ettley has been up to:

-She had her 6 month check up. She weighs 15 lbs 10.6 oz (40th percentile) and is 26.75 inches long (81st percentile). She weighs less than Adler did even with her chubby cheeks.

-She is still spitting up which we are pretty sad about. It has slowed down but it had completely stopped with Adler at 6 months so we had high hopes.

-She is so squirmy. She wants to look at everything and would rather play on the floor with toys. She isn’t my snuggly baby anymore.

-She will pull the burp cloth off her face when you say “Where is Ettley”!

-Everything goes right in her mouth no matter what it is so we have to watch her closely. She also watches us eat and if we are holding her she tries to get what we are putting in our mouth and put it in her own!

-She has tried apples and bananas and loves them both.

-When she is happy she babbles “dada” and when she is sad and crying she says “mama.” I don’t think she knew what she was saying at first but now I think she is starting to get that we are Mama and Dada and when she says that we come to her. I’m counting Mama as her first word.:)

-She is still very obsessed with Adler. She loves to watch him and he is still the funniest person to her. She likes to see what he is doing and tries to join in.

-She took her 3rd trip to upstate New York for my cousins wedding (1st was for our family reunion and the second was for Labor day at the lake)! She does pretty well in the car except when she can see us. Then she cries and wants to get out.

We love our Ettley girl and we love experiencing all her 1sts! She is growing up too fast but we are excited to have more adventures with her and watch her grow! Here are so cute pictures of her:

Ettley’s 1st Holidays:

4th of July:

Ettley was 2 months for her first 4th so she didn’t really understand it but I loved picking out red, white, and blue outfits for her! We celebrated with some sparklers and small fireworks in our cul-de-sac. We were going to see some big fireworks but it was raining so we decided to just stay in and eat some hamburgers.

Halloween:

4 costumes later, Ettley’s 1st Halloween was a success. She didn’t go trick-or-treating but she loved watching her brother get super excited for everything. Ettley was 5 months for her 1st Halloween.

Thanksgiving:

Ettley was 6 months for her 1st Thanksgiving. Her GG (my grandma) was in town and so was Bitty (Brittany). We also invited our friends the LeBarons over for dinner. Ettley watched everyone cook dinner and enjoyed the yummy smells in the kitchen. Of course we took a family picture. I had fun picking out the perfect Thanksgiving outfit for her. She stayed up for 10 minutes of Thanksgiving dinner but then went to take a nap. It was a very successful Thanksgiving for Ettley!

Ettley is 5 months:

Ettley is 5 months and we can’t believe it! Here is what she is up to:

-She has started to eat more food at about 5 1/2 months. We continued with pears and she loves them. We have also given her sweet potatoes and she likes those as well. So far she will pretty much eat anything. Let’s hope that keeps up!

-She is still sleeping in her bassinet. She lasted longer in here than Adler did because she isn’t as long as Adler was. We have also run into the problem of only have 1 crib and not transitioning Adler to a big bed yet. I need to do this but I am just putting it off…

-She loves peek a boo and now will pull my hands away from my eyes.

-She has started to hold her bottle which is one of my favorite milestones :)

-She is a super light sleeper. She is good about putting herself back to sleep. We are trying to get her accustom to noises while she sleeps. She is a little better at night but we have learned to just let her put herself back to sleep.

-She touches our faces when she drinks her bottles and we are holding her just like Adler did.

-On October 25th she started sitting up! She still leans over sometimes but she is getting better each day!

-She has started to realize when we leave a room and she’s not too happy about it!

-She has been saying mama a lot but I don’t think she realizes what she is saying yet…

We love our baby girl and she is getting to such a fun age! We are excited to experience more 1st with her especially since the holidays are approaching! Here are some cute pictures of her!
